Decorating the Barn

Our Day Services have been taking place at the Old Acorn Barn, Englishcombe, for over a decade and it is ready for a fresh coat of paint.

Having recently upgraded the lighting and amendments to the fire alarm/ emergency lighting we are now ready to paint the walls and ceilings.

We are being loaned decorating equipment and want to make the most of the opportunity to freshen up the space.

As we break for half term it seems like a good time to get the decorating done, initially aiming to get everything done in 3 days but giving ourselves the rest of the week to deal with final touches, let the paint dry and to get display boards back on the walls.

Our first 3 days of decorating will take place on Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October and you can sign up to let us know when you plan to attend using this link to the sign up form:

There are 6 sessions taking place across the 3 days (morning and afternoon) but do sign up even if you can only make it for part of a session. In some senses it is “the more the merrier” and “many hands make light work” but we also have limited space so we are hoping for a good balance of volunteers across each session.

Each day there will be tea, coffee, and refreshments but if you will be coming over the lunch period we ask that you would bring your own packed lunch.

Friday morning will focus on taking down display boards, filling holes and preparing the walls, then the rest of the weekend will be all about the paint, ’bout the paint, ’bout the paint!

Due to the nature of the jobs we ask that anyone aged under 18 years is accompanied by an adult.

Please wear appropriate clothing for painting… something you won’t mind when it gets paint on!

We are unable to provide transport to the Barn so if you rely on public transport or taxi’s we apologies, but also encourage you to ask a friend who can give you a life and then there will be an extra decorator!
