The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024

Could you support our campaign to develop a new Session for adults with learning disabilities?

Until midday on Tuesday 10th December 2024, this years Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign is open. The Christmas Challenge is a match-giving campaign which doubles the impact of every donation made! We have already secured our pledge amount (thanks again to all of our wonderful pledgers), as well as our Champion funding from The Together Fund, but now we need your support to make our campaign a success.

Whether you make a donation, encourage someone else to give, or engage with our campaign on social media, your support is invaluable and will help play a part in making sure that those who will benefit from our Day Services have additional opportunities to access our community and support.

The Need

The Life Project is one of a few charities in Bath running day services for adults with learning disabilities but could do much more with the right support as our services are capacity.

We are looking to extend our provision by opening an additional session each week to meet the needs of more people with learning disabilities. Service users (known to us as Makers) are encouraged to share responsibilities, make decisions & discover what they can achieve in a safe and supportive community. As well as developing skills, Makers also grow in confidence and have improved well-being through engagement in our allotment, cooking, arts, and more. Whilst Makers are with us, carers benefit from respite time.

When we first open a new session we know we will need to subsidise the costs as it takes time to build up the number of Makers able to attend and this is where your funding helps us – knowing that initially the session will be operating at a loss but as the number of participants increases we have a model that is financially sustainable with the fees paid to access the service.
