Springs Leads Church Service
We don’t know what Bath Elim Church were expecting when they invited our Springs Fellowship to lead their morning worship but we had a wonderful time and felt the presence of God’s Spirit and a warm welcome from the church fellowship.
During this term at Springs we have been thinking about friendship – how God helps us to be good friends with one another and how, through Jesus, we are able to be friends with God.
It was this theme of friendship that we wanted to share with Elim, when to all intent and purposes, we had a Springs meeting in their church. As is our custom we welcomed everyone to Springs (at Elim) and introduced some Makaton signs that we use to aid communication with one another and in our worship. We were impressed with the musicians at Elim, and enjoyed they way they led us in a time of sung (and Makaton) worship, ably assisted by some of our Members who signed for everyone to see (and follow if they chose).
There was a wonderful drama that involved all of our members – acting out how we can be good friends and how we can trust in God when we are feeling sad or alone, because by his Spirit, God is always with us, hears our prayers and will answer.
We were treated to testimony and prayers led my members of Springs and an inspired talk based on the fact that Jesus doesn’t call us servants, rather he calls us friends.
And, somehow we even managed to include a craft – with the whole congregation getting involved with the making of a love heart prayer paper chain which by the end stretched from one side of the church building to the other!
This service was a first for us to be invited to a church to share something of who we are and what we do. It is very much an answer to our prayer that we would deepen the relationships between The Life Project and local churches in Bath. There were also many answered prayers as we planned and worked together, with members and volunteers taking steps of faith in the roles they took on. We hope and pray for further opportunities to engage with churches – whether that’s joining a service, welcoming you to visit us, or participating in other opportunities and events together.
We are especially grateful to Kenny for inviting us and trusting us and to Elizabeth for bring us all together and making it all work.
We are now looking forward to our Christmas Social before we return in the New Year with a slightly different team as Elizabeth and Kay are stepping back from their leadership roles. We are deeply grateful for their dedication to Springs, especially over the past few years as they have led the group, and pray that they will know God’s blessing in the weeks and months ahead.
We are also praying for those people God is preparing to come and join us – as members and as volunteers. If this could be you please do get in touch.
